"Marta and Raquel make me want to be permanently in construction works... I love working with them because they are extremely customer-oriented and don’t measure efforts to ensure that everything is according to what I need. They are extremely professional from wallpaper choosing to coordination and work supervision.”
A duplex apartment with 205 square meters and 50 square meters of terrace area, in very bad conditions, was fully refurbished to fix several constructive pathologies, especially at structural level. Comfort conditions in respect to thermal and acoustic insulation were also improved. Furthermore, initial space planning was also reorganized, demolishing "claustrophobic" walls and démodé stairs, in order to give more light and spaciousness to common areas.
The intervention was urgent and intended to be clearly marked, not making possible any recollection of what it had been. To break with the past, the compartments were painted in white or very light grey colours enhancing higher luminosity, though giving each space a colour pointing that would give the tone for the décor. A new, clean and contemporary styled space was desired.
Creative ideas were found, consistent with the available budget, such as the use of mixed solutions for the kitchen and bathroom finishes - painted stucco with ceramics -, elaborated dark wooden doors and skirting boards were replaced by pre-lacquered market solutions and the existing wooden pavement was covered by floating wooden floor to unify the general floor after the demolitions.
The décor complemented the architecture, obeying to its principle guiding - sober and functional - yet introduced spotlight elements that gave personality to the general set (chromatic choices, textile patterns and wallpaper).
Tailor-made carpentry was executed, concealing or as display form, to accommodate the client’s numerous collections and books he had and expected to increase.
The project included the restoration of upholstery and tailor-made furnishings.
